Bags are obviously essential to what we do. They've been discussed here previously, but I learned the hard way in trying to cut corners on my bags.
We've all seen the walls of baits in the stores. I've bought hundreds of them throughout my life...maybe more than hundreds. I'd always viewed the bags as convenient, maybe even "professional-looking". Ignorance is NOT bliss, I tell Ya! I have probably thousands of 1.5" and 2" Tubes, after I bought them (usually by the 100 per size and color) I bagged them in the bags I bought from Uline. I bought my Poly Recloseable Bags from Uline by the Thousand as I geared up, 2 mil and 4 mil thicknesses. Not very long after re-bagging the Tubes (and many other baits, some were oiled, some were dry), I noticed the bags splitting, spilling baits...splitting very cleanly, as though they were hit with a razor. Pick them up, re-bag...only for the phenomenon to repeat. Head-Scratch much?
After a bit of information gathering, and always keeping my eyes open, I have realized that what the truth is, is these Laminated Bags that baits are sold in, the same bags that Jason sells, are made with/for the sole purpose of containing Soft Plastic Baits, and "keeping Worm Oil and Plasticizers" in their place. These Laminated Bags are not simply for "looking professional" or a convenience, they're necessary...if You want Your bags to last and not spill Your baits everywhere.
