Looking at the CC Glider (3 in.)
« on: 11/10/13 12:54 UTC »
I'm looking at getting the CC Glider mold in the next week or so, but I need just a bit more convincing. What types of fish have you all caught on it? How do you guys usually rig it? Have any of you ever tried using a half bait or a whole bait under the ice to imitate a leech? Thanks in advance.

Josh

We actually spoke about doing exactly that with that bait, right before the lam plate came available for it.  I've got some pics in the Gallery of some Black half-mold Glider-Leeches.

Whole, I rig it on a jighead or weedless on a 2/0 Owner Rig'N Hook.  Half-mold, they can be nose-hooked on dropshot or carolina, or weedless on a worm hook that has little gap between hook-point and hook-eye (judge that gap while holding the hook-point pointing horizontal).

That Glider is also killer as a jig trailer, and as the foundation of a Running Craw Imitation (craws point their claws when they run/dart).  I have that mold, and wish there was a bigger Glider, maybe 3.5"-3.75", and also I'd prefer the Body to be turned 1/4-turn so the bait wouldn't be forced into a twist in the bag.

Serious bait for many species!

I would buy a sample pack. They're only five bucks and you get to see the bait in hand. Pick five baits that you think you might like and see what they look like. It ends up being cheaper then buying molds you only thought you would like.

I've tried them out, I just want to know the different species and rigging options for them since all I've done is t-rigged it

Here is the deal wth the glider it can be so much
Cut   V in the tail and its a craw
Buy a skirt mold and its a skirt grub
Cut it off its a leach
Which will cover bass, crappie, eyes, and I bet stripers would kill it on a lead head
I think it would be a cool bait I have one like it in 2.5 and I've caught about everything that swims on them

Josh,
I use if for saltwater fishing here on the west coast. I have caught halibut, spottied bay bass, calico bass, sand bass, lizard fish, and mackerel. I have tried fishing it for bone fish but they have alluded me..  Its a great mold, and Andrew had the great idea of turning it into a leech mold with a piece of the hobby sheet aluminum.

I fish them on Darter head jigs and 1/2 moon jigs for walleyes and bass. I also nose hook them on circle hooks behind a Lindy rig or split shot.

I've caught a lot of walleyes and smallmouth on that bait in watermelon-brown red flake, black with blue flake and smoke silver with silver flake.

Like I've mentioned before..I use a sheet of thin gage aluminum in the mold and shoot them as half baits in black to look like leeches.
