Not to sure who to thank here.
« on: 12/13/13 17:51 UTC »
I while back here someone said a relative of theirs took off all the food labels of cans so it was a surprise when they opened it. Well it is Christmas so I did this and had my grandkids put them back so I had no idea what was what. Tonight was the first test. As a norm I will take some top shelf ground, fry it with some onions and pour cream of mushroom over it and let it simmer. Then cook up some noodles and pour it over the top. Well tonight I got the top ground going with onions bacon and celery. Opened a non labeled can and it was creamed corn. Ya know it wasn't that bad. I kind of liked it. I may keep this tradition for Christmas. It keeps me in check. I don't always get what I want and I need to be happy for what I get. Tomorrow morning I'm heading back to Toy Times to help wash and get ready a ton of toys for those kids that have nothing. No one can change the world. But a single smile can change a life. My hope is each and everyone of you find this season a way to change a life.

AWESOME, Sir!

My wife and I do something kinda similar.  We do not buy gifts for everyone, family, etc....instead, find those who have less or nothing at all, and be a Blessing to them.  It's cold outside and there are some who sleep outdoors.  Be a difference!

Lamar, that was my great uncle Forest who took the labels off his cans.  Forest was what I would call "woodsy", he lived alone in his small cabin and one day he looked around and thought the floor could stand to be cleaned, so he got out the scrub brush and went to work, well now the floor was covered with soap, so he dumped a bunch of water on the floor to rinse it, this is when a mop would have come in handy because now he had standing water, so how did he get rid of all that water?, a drill of course, a few holes drilled in floor and problem solved.

This time of year is hard on a lot off people. In the grocery store by me the have food bags you can buy for local food bank I try to get as many of them as I can. One never know  when it could be yourself that needs a helping hand. The idea of taking the labels of the cans sounds  fun might have to try that one. The bell ringers are out in in full force at this time  of year and I give to them . It's hard believe that people can walk past them like there not even there .  8) mike
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

The problem is there are so many scams out there. People don't know who's who or how much is going to the cause. Some companies ask for money to help a cause, gather it all up and give it to the cause so they can write off on their taxes. It is a donation but not really their money. There are allot of expenses before it goes to those who need it. Sort of why I do it my way. A cycle club I'm in we adopt two families. We go out and shop for them on what they need and hand it to them personally. Then I help at toy time. I see the toys going to the kids.
