Green Shad & Motor Oil Shad
« on: 01/31/14 10:02 UTC »
First timer making soft baits.  Need these laminate baits in 12" size, but Culprit won't provide.  CCM X2 motor oil and watermelon green look like they will match well for non-shad parts.  Looking for advice on color-matching though for the "shad" parts of each worm.  Thinking white w pearl, then mix w main color (green or motor oil)?

Culprit had a good pic of green shad, but motor oil shad looks more bright than reality.  Can't seem to attach pic of each.  Send me email address and I will send better pic.

Thanks!

Color 03 is Green Shad
Color 92 is Motor Oil Shad

Some advice would really be appreciated.  Thanks!

Green shad looks pretty straightforward using a twinjector.  Top looks like a very dark watermelon green, bottom looks like chartreuse being affected by the top color.  Could be green chartreuse as well.

The motor oil shad pic is bright, either slightly over exposed or too much glare.  Maybe just the white background, but it's hard to tell if the bottom is yellow or chartreuse.  I would try chartreuse first, maybe darken with just a touch of motor oil in it.  (really, just dip a toothpick in the colorant, you'd want less than a drop I think)  Personally, I like this color but I'd probably hit it with some black flake.

Hmm, don't have a twinjector, might have to try hand pouring some 7" rtw laminates.
