I really like the look of the Trokar flat football jig.  With the hook cost of $0.70 to $1.00; depending on the source;  I have avoided buying the mold ( so far anyway ).  I have heard that on the round shakey style head that the flat doesn't "help" that much in gravel or rock.  This pertained to other makers flat bottom round head jigheads ( before the Do-It mold came out).

Do you like the arrowhead bait keeper better than the wire coil?   I "have heard" the round head version will take other makers hooks.  I like the concept of a flat bottom to aide in the upright position.

I have not used the wire coil ones ...like the arrow head myself ..only down side to me is glueing them so they dont pull off very easily..thats why i wanted to try to wire coil ones if any one makes them and sells them because they look very similar to the ones i use. Thanks

most of the trokar molds have a normal hook that will fit in them.  it just takes a little searching.

I sell em with a mustad instead of a trokar as well as the round head and football head shakey heads. Check out www.muddyriverjigs.com.  my prices are very reasonable.

Some of you will disagree with me but the original Do-it round shaky that uses the flat eye hooks with the screw lock is just an awesome head, very simple and it works. I will probably get the Trokar model round head because it uses both flat and vertical eye hooks but more importantly it uses heavy gauge hooks, the flat spot means nothing to me really. I think the stand up presentation is over hyped and the reason I feel that way is I do better with a salt filled finesse worm than I do with the floating style and it is by a lot to the point that I stopped looking for floating style plastics 2 years ago. That said, the shaky heads we all make are as good as any sold commercially.

One of the reasons I "Roll my own" is to get specific hook - head combinations.  I can match a specific head and hook to a specific bait.  Also, I use non standard hooks in several of my jigs.  With careful use a dremel tool can be a great asset.  I.E.  Ctoms mod of a 1/16 mold to make a wacky hook mold.
