Deer Body Hair
« on: 03/30/14 09:43 UTC »
I'm just about out of the little bit of deer body hair that came with the kit I purchased when I started tying. I'm wondering where you guys get the deer hair you use if you use deer. Thanks in advance

Josh

The best place to get fly tying materials...by far... is Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone Montana.

Andrew thanks for the input, have you ever ordered from the company California Fly Shop? Or anyone else for that matter? I found this http://www.californiaflyshop.com/premium-deer-strip/ but I don't know what kind of quality or the length of the actual fur.

Go on ebay and do a search under sellers for bronze3 -  http://www.ebay.com/sch/bronze3/m.html?_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1  this guy has some assorted packs of fur but unbelieveable prices for it.  I've bought from him MANY times and we're not talking the little fly shop pieces nice big pieces.
