This is for ctom

Well since ctom is asking for new things to talk about I might as well tell you fellas about my last fishing trip which was the first weekend of May.  Myself and 11 other went to Galveston for my buddies bachelor party to do some fishing for 3 day.  That Thursday evening 3 of us went out for a quick wade before the sun down and we actually got into a couple fish in our short 1 hour wade.  I ended up pulling out a 25" redfish and the other 2 caught 4-5 keep trout between them. Best part was all but 2 trout were caught on my baits, the others were on top waters. We left back for the house around 745 which was perfect because as soon as we pulled up in the boat to his house, the dual margarita machine that I rented was being delivered. We loaded one side of that thing up with margaritas and the other with Jack Daniels and diet coke to have frozen Jacks which are extremely fantastic. Needless to say were we going to have a good time.  A few hours later 3 others showed up and by this time the fish were in the lights so we started catching and releasing several trout that were just shy of keeper size.  I would have to say between all of us we landed around 40 pup trout. The next day we went back out around 11 due to the fact the wind was howling that morning and we landed 1 flounder, rat reds and a few more keep trout.  It was a pretty fun day because this was really the first time several guys in our group were throwing and sticking fish on my lures and the color combos they requested. We probably headed back around 4 because at this time the rest of the group was showing up for the party to begin.  We did a little more fishing the rest of the weekend that netted 4 more keeper reds and a couple trout but the wind wasn't really our friend but we sure had a good time with that margarita machine.  Saturday afternoon was the highlight of the event were I boiled 100 lbs of crawfish, 40 lbs of shrimp, 15 lobster tails and 5 lbs of fresh scallops.  To go along those wonderful critters we had the standard corn, Andouille sausage, potatoes, mushrooms and we threw in some artichokes and brussel sprouts.   All and all it was a good time with good people, food and drink.  We got in some good fishing when the wind wasn't blowing 25-30 mph but luckily wind doesn't effect the gambling on the washer boards too much.  Ctom, I wrote this for you so you have something new to read about.

PS, I also have a few of these red and trout slayers in the "Baits for Sale" section for those you might be interested.   Hope you enjoyed the story.

Sounds like a great trip on many levels.

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to entertain ctom.  He needs something to keep him busy in his rocking chair.

No chair here, buds. I get all my rockin done in the boat. With todays wind I'd have sea legs until tomorrow. I'm waiting for Thursday when I get to practice standing in an unstable vessel again.

On our little 600 acre local lake all I need is another 6 degrees of water temperature and it will be game on. No wake, high. muddy and having lost 5 degrees in three days had slabs deep and tight lipped yesterday. And of course the wind liked to lay my bones open again too. At 59 to 60 degrees the first shift of deep nesters will move up on the 6 foot breaks and get busy and at 63 degrees the smaller younger fish will set up house in shallower waters. When I can see beds on the shore line waters I stop fishing them and start plugging top water bass so the crappies can have a little peace from me..

The river? Ya'll gotta open those gates and start draining more water...ours doesn't have anywhere to go right now, but it is coming down slowly. My pet pool 5 is still running in the 120,000 cubic feet per second range and up by over 10 feet. 30,000 feet and a foot high and things will change crappie-wise. The river is running at about 55-58 degrees and when those back waters pick up heat to about 63-64 degrees they'll spawn fast. Depending on how this weather progresses I'd say that by mid june the post spawn piggies will have a feed bag on seriously and that some of our pet haunts will begin to produce. I will keep you in the loop Tommy.
