Horse/pony heads?

How are ya all powder painting these jigs?

Poured and tried painting a few and it's a real pain to keep those swivels clean.

Yes it is.  Some people tear a small strip of aluminum foil and wrap the swivel before heating.

Tin foil is how I do them - nights that your sitting watching the TV put the tin foil on the swivels and when your ready to powder you're all set.  One thing to remember is take the foil off the swivel BEFORE curing them!!!!

Reading on another board a guy puts an alligator clip over the swivel and dips them - I might try a few that way but the teeth grooves I think will still let powder in, and if you do brush tapping for a second color it would go right the seem of the clip also.

When I powder again I'll give em a try - but I just picked up my grand daughter for the month of August and we're going fishing!!!!

I did a few as a test today.  With #10 crane swivels I was grabbing the ring and dipping them.  No paint on the swivel.  Seems that the pliers were a big enough heat sink that the swivel cooled down to the point where the paint would not stick.

I may try and find some teflon tubing and give that a try.

The best thing I have found is I hold the head by the hook eye with forceps then heat over a heat gun. Then I dip the dangling swivel in water or touch it to an ice cube to cool. then dip in powder. The powder does not stick to the cool swivel. Takes some practice not to over dip the swivel but it is the fastest and cleanest way I have found.
Wishing y'all tight lines and bent wriggling rods. Happy Fishing!
