Swim Jig Season is Near
« on: 05/20/15 16:18 UTC »
Here are my first 2 swim jigs of the season, I used Mo Quack's swim baits as the trailer on these and matched the color to them somewhat. I had really good success last year with these patterns so now I'm making sure I have a few extra, anyway, these are both 3/8oz baits. The top one I like to call "Black Back Shiner" and the bottom one is "Ghost Green Shiner", they were poured using the Do-it Trokar Pro Swim Jig Mold and I'm using 4/0 Eagle Claw 2706 Black Platinum hooks. The picture isn't great but the head on the top jig is silver with just a little tiny bit of candy blue dusted over it with the back done in smoke which is more of a gun metal color, really nice for this kind of thing. The skirt is 44 strands and it is 1 tab of blue interference pepper, 6 strands of clear with blue crystal (flash effect), 10 strands of sexy blue and 6 strands of flat black. The bottom head is a very light dust of pearl white, I hit it with just enough that the shine was knocked off the head but you could still see the lead, then I gave it just a quick dust of candy green, that gives you the ghost effect that you see shine but it has a faint color to it almost translucent, you can do that with any candy color and pearl but it has to be very light. The skirt is 44 strands also, it is 1.5 tabs of green glimmer pepper and 1/2 tab of pearl, the pearl breaks up the green glimmer effect of that color silicone. I don't know the colors of the tails but let me tell you, Mo Quack has some awesome stuff whether it is painting cranks or pouring plastics, the guy can do it all!!! Let me know what you think of my simple swim jigs, these really work well around wood and docks.

Heck those jigs are so good looking they even make my ole junky bargain bin baits look good! I plan on fishing a swim jig a lot this year more so to learn more about how to fish them than anything. Great looking catchers there

I really like that bottom one. Would work good here in clear water.

Swim jig season got here for me around late February and is still going pretty strong if you can catch them in the right mood.  I throw it nearly all year long simply because most guys are throwing spinner/chatterbaits and it gives the fish a different look.  At least that is how I explain it to myself ;D

Thanks guys!!!!! Mo Quack, those "bargain bin" baits as you call them are wicked awesome!!!!! They hold up well in cover and they give off a great thump and the fish seem to like these a lot, you know what you're doing with soft plastic without a doubt, and thank you again for these, they're like the gift that keeps on giving!!

I've been tossing them for about a month now and I particularly like to throw them during high pressure when other baits seem to be overly aggressive.
