That's the walleye head. Still available. The assorted molds cast down to 1/16 and the tapered snout is more pronounced on the smaller heads. Nice mold. Versitile.

I thought that at first - but the hook placement of the walleye head is in the wrong position of this wedgehead.   Wondered if it might me an old Ament mold??

You're right. The jig you have puts the eye futher back in the head of where the walleye head has it. If you stripped a couple of these you could make a mold using rtf.

The first pic is ones I tied on ball heads.

The pic of the wedgehead is the ONLY real doll fly jig I have left!! Can't tear that one down.  Looking through all the pics of doll flys on ebay they actually have several different styles of heads but I really like that wedge head!.

Fishing the ones I had (yeah I know dumb!!) it seemed to come through rocks very well and fishing it in the rivers worked very well.

Interesting. I'm going to have to try this idea. I can see where the wedge would cut the current better.

I would have more confidence in the polar bear hair than finding the exact head.  Dad Had some of this years ago and I never found a better hair jig for smallmouth!

Actually have the bullet head mold, and it's good in grassy areas.

I've looked at an old Ament Catalouge and I see what I thing is the right shape but the old catalouges have hand drawn pics on most of them and you can't tell the actual finished product.  Thinking the EH series on the left hand side.  Know a guy who has a bunch of old Aments and he's going to check for me.

He also got these two Ament molds, walleye head but the eye is set further back like the original I posted, checking to see if he might pour one to check it out

Looking at an old Ament catalouge I see a few shapes

Fatman, I have the walleye jig mold with the ball collar and I have used it for tying hair jigs for smallmouth in the river as that head seems to do a little better in rocks. The other think I like about the walleye jig is that is swims nice, I usually hop my jigs tied on that head but I also swim them along the bottom looking for active fish, the doll fly head has the line tie coming out about the center of the head while the walleye jig has the line tie coming out near the top and that would make the doll fly better for swimming high in the water column or fishing under a float as it would be more of a center balance jig than the walleye head. I tied the crappie jigs I sent to Mo Quack on the walleye head and for crappie jigs it is tough to beat, that head is just so versatile and the sizes are well thought out,  my favorite is the 3/32oz, that size head, in my opinion, is perfect, I can tie buck tail on it with a little flash and use it for smallmouth one day, and then crappie the next. I also like the ball collar on that mold, it makes it great for tying hair and fur and you can even leave it bare and put on a grub or fry. I think the walleye head will work for you Fatman but I do understand if you want the exact head.

I'd love to have it but I've seen a bunch showing just a ball head so I'll hang with that one right now.  Still waiting on a buddy to check his old Aments, but the ball has worked well so it will be the main one for now.
