I wasn't going to post this because I wasn't sure if it was any good or not but after fishing with it I felt I had to. This is a 1/2oz tandem spinnerbait in a pattern called "mouse", I normally make my own but a friend of mine told me the War Eagle mouse pattern works fantastic on the one lake we fish so he gave me one to look at and try to copy it. Well I don't like exact copies so I put my own spin and while it has some similarities to the War Eagle color, I feel mine is much different, especially the head but they use plated heads so it doesn't matter. Anyway, the majority of the head is painted in protec gold with watermelon pepper on the back with just a little transition down the sides. The skirt is a full tab of mouse which is smoke with green crystal, 1/2 tab of clear with green crystal, and 3/4 tab of gold shiner. The bait itself is a 1/2oz Ultra Minnow with a .035" diameter wire form and a 5/0 VMC 7250 black nickel hook and it uses a #3 nickel Colorado blade on the clevis and a #5 polished brass fluted willow leaf blade on the swivel. I made 4 of these to fish on this lake where the pattern is supposed to be good, the water is a little stained due to all the rain we've been getting so it was perfect for spinnerbaits. Well the reason I posted this is because it worked and it really worked well, I fished for 4.5 hours and caught 16 fish, the largest was a 4lb 7 ounce beauty, my buddy did just a bit better catching 19, he caught 2 on the War Eagle but I already was up to 5 and that was when he switched to the bait I gave him which was the one the fish wanted that day, maybe the difference was key as the lake gets a good amount of pressure and most know that mouse pattern spinnerbait, so having a custom might have been the advantage, who knows. So I posted this for those who may want to try it and see if it works as well in your waters.
