Saltwater Shrimp
« on: 11/14/11 14:54 UTC »
Growin' up, we did alot of Trawling for Shrimp in Louisiana.  In general terms, there are 2 native species of Shrimp, and that's shown by the Shrimp Seasons...Brown Shrimp and White Shrimp.  There are Pink Shrimp that are pink when they're alive, but they're not in Louisiana Inland Waters...they're in deep water, offshore in the GOM, and they're around Florida and the East Coast.  I have no knowledge of the West Coast other than the existence of Prawns.

Alot of people use Pink and Copper in Shrimp Imitating Soft Plastics, but this isn't "natural" for White and Brown shrimp, which is the common shrimp on the Gulf Coast, with 1 exception...alot of smaller White Shrimp have a LITTLE Pink on them, in the form of tiny pink spots.  So, with knowing what's popular, AND with the Mild Existence of pink on small White Shrimp, I threw in a little pink to the color.  These Southern Shrimp are very transparent when they're alive, their color is faint.  Their colors are typically Brown and Gray...they have to hide.  I tried to take ALL of these different colors and combine them into 1, and the End Result is one that I KNOW will make fish open their mouth, which as we all know, is the name of the game.

***1 Full pack (15 bodies) of Deadley Dudley Jr's in Pink Champagne color (they have a little .015" Opal flake)
***10 oz.s CCM Plastic Liquid
***18 drops CCM Pearl Gold Smoke
***5 drops CCM Brown
***3 drops CCM Black
***1 drop CCM Red
***1 Pinch CCM .015" Black flake
***1 TSP Menhaden Oil (optional, not color)
***5 drops CCM Stabilizer (optional, not color)
***2 TSP MF Hardener (optional, not color)

Since posting Pics (from my PC) to Threads is giving me such a hard time, I'm posting them in "Worms & Sticks", 'til I can get this down.

The True Color is more "Brown Dominant", with a hint of Pink, like the 2 baits on the end of the runner closest to the camera.

A Recipe without the Deadley Dudley's, to get this color...I believe if You used 12 oz.s of Plastic instead of 10 oz.s, and used the listed Colorants and Flake, You'd be on the money.
