clackers

I make my own Lake Trout trolling spoons from blanks ordered from LPOL. Great flash and great action from these blanks but they tend to be just a hair light if I want a blade like this for casting so I have been doing something a tad bit different for casting lures.

I stack two blades on top of each other and clip them together using the split rings then adding the hook and tape. This makes a bait of about 5/16 ounce.... castable. The spoons on the retrieve will click against each other and can actually be felt while cranking in the line. I think that this often attracts fish as much as the flash.

I had to cook up a few more for the Big Lake box since the last trip saw a couple of these swim away without the line attached any more.
