Anyone know what type of respirator is recommended for pouring plastic, and how expensive new cartridges are? My throat is burning, but in my stupidity the garage door was down, it usually doesn't bother me with the door up. Don't worry, I only did it once, and won't be doing it again!

You need to install a vent outdoors...

The respirator is added protection.  You can get them at the hardware store.  Don't mess with your health.

I'm not sure what brand of plastic you are using, but here is our MSDS sheet:

You want to buy the 3M Dual Cartridge Paint Spray-Pesticide Model.  The standard dust mask does not protect you from vapors.  Half face is fine with protective glasses.  If you are working inside you must have a vent.  I work outside and still use my respirator.  There are times when I haven't used my respirator and I always end of with a headache and a weird taste in my mouth - NO FUN   :P

I have not priced a vent, what's the minimum $$? I guess it depends on the area I'm working in that determines the how much air I need to move.

There is no minimum or maximum $$$.  It really just depends on how resourceful you want to be.  We have a 1,000 cfm one that we built with some help from our HVAC friends.  Others have used an old vent hood.  All you need is venting and a way to move the air.  It's not an option if you do this indoors - I guarantee you it will be less expensive than the alternative of not having proper ventilation.
