WINTER Storm Warning REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EDT SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in Burlington continues the Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and sleet, until 2 PM EDT Saturday.
Locations: Eastern Rutland, Windsor, Orange, Washington and Caledonia Counties in Vermont. Western Essex County in New York.
Hazard types: Heavy wet snow and sleet
Accumulations: 4 to 8 inches in Orange, Washington and Caledonia Counties. 6 to 10 inches in eastern Rutland, Windsor and Essex Counties with a mix with sleet expected tonight into Saturday morning. The greatest accumulations will occur above 1000 feet.
Maximum Snowfall Rate...Up to 1 inch per hour, mainly this evening through early Saturday morning.
Timing..Snow will begin this morning before possibly mixing with rain below 1000 feet this afternoon and early this evening. Snow and sleet will continue tonight before tapering off Saturday morning. The highest probabilities of sleet will occur across the southern Greens and in Essex County, New York.
Impacts: Heavy wet snow will accumulate on trees and power lines which may cause scattered power outages across southern Vermont and Essex County, New York. Additionally, difficult to hazardous travel conditions are expected on local roads.
Winds: Southeast 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
Temperatures: Lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Highs in the 30s.
Visibilities: As low as a half mile at times, mainly this evening.
