Do you have the CCM 6" Swimbait mold?
« on: 01/12/12 00:08 UTC »
...if so, have you busted out a 3 color bait yet?  I am and have been seriously contemplating adding this mold to my arsenal over the past few months.  The deal breaker for me since I know it catches fish, would be whether or not I could do 3 colors...Jason told me it shoots from the tail, but I am curious to see if any of you have walked these grounds?

You want to hand pour half of it for optimal results.  Pouring a second, third, fourth, etc... color is just as easy.  Here is one I made today with 5 colors.  I like the way everything turned out except the back color.  The trick to no cold cracks is keeping the mold warm and having everything ready.

You Go Jason.  Show 'em how it's done. Is the only part injected the purple lateral line?  When is the 4 inch version coming out?

Yes, the purple line is injected.  I'm working on the swims now, but there will be a few other molds prior to the 4".

Nice job Jason, I would keep those for myself just knowing how much work was put into it.

A few...  The biggest thing is testing.  It takes a while to get the action just right.

The simplest way is to use a 5.0, 6.0 or 7.0 SB hook with a belly weight / screw lock.  You can add additional weight if needed in the pocket.

You can fish it without the belly weight, but it requires getting your plastic just right and more skill fishing it.  The window of error to do it this way is pretty small.  Colorant, powder, etc. (the smallest things) come into play.
