Poison swingtail bucktail
« on: 06/25/17 15:24 UTC »
This is a 1 oz I made just because it's easy to see the detail in the head on the big size.  I tied this with bucktail and it's a 4" fork tail whatz it for the plastic. I'm pretty happy with this.  Haven't fished any yet. I'll make up some smaller 1/4 and 3/8 to try for river smallies and walleyes.

Thanks Shaunm81 I got this mold with my points just because I like trying new baits.  This jig offers so many different things you can do so it's a fun one for me.

I like the way you rig it weedless. A good bait for the weedline that they've never saw!

Gary one of the main ways I want to fish this jig is rigging it weedless. I want to throw it in river current where there's a lot if timber for walleyes. With a conventional jig you just get snagged to much.  I'm thinking this could be the ticket to get down in that wood without snagging so much.

Great jig MJ that jig is going to account for a lot of fish of all species being caught.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

Hey MikeJ, I know this is an old post, but I just ordered the poison swingtail mold, and your example is exactly how I planned to tie it.
Thanks for posting this version of it.

That was quite awhile ago, but I can report they work great for both walleyes and smallmouth bass. In fact I'll be throwing some into the flooded timber in South Dakota in a few weeks.
