The Ripper
« on: 11/24/17 08:19 UTC »
Hey guys, I just bought the new CNC and ES Ripper. I like the bait and was wanting to make the tail section a different color then the main body. The normal way would be to shoot the mold with the tail color and cut the tail section off, put it back into the mold and shoot the body. But in this case the tail section is very hard to put back into the mold and takes way to much time. So I've seen you guys have been core shooting this bait. So my question is could someone take a picture on how you place the rod in this bait. It seems to me the rod would clog the nose up and not allow the hot plastic to enter. Or maybe I need a smaller diameter rod.

Have you tried oiling the cavity at the teail to help inserting those tail pieces? I have the essential mold and the cnc mold and both work very nice when oiled a little. I use a cheap little kids paint brush to oil these areas and the tail parts slip right back in.

Ok I think I figured it out. I took a rod and ground it to a smaller diameter at the nose and then ground the tail piece a flat side on top and bottom so the mold would close. Brushed some worm oil on it and shot it. Now I need to make three more rods so I can shot four at a time.

Nice baits Lamar. I havnt tried e-coring the ripper yet but it looks like it makes some great baits.

What I really like about the e-core is it attaches the tail on there solid. Like Tom said you can with the help of some worm oil shoot the bait cut the tail off and put it back in the mold. But it does take a little bit of work and with the ES mold you'd have to do that with three baits. This once you get the rod made is pretty easy to do. Plus no mod to the mold

What's that lie about teaching old dogs new tr......

I may have the numbers behind my age to be an old dog but I don't feel like one. Went in this morning at 9 for an hour Cross fit class. Fourth one this week with an hour spin class on Tuesday night. Pretty much the way my winters go. I can't just sit around. I got out of competitive bass fishing and sighed up for three different weeks back in the bush in Canada. So this winter I'm making walleye and pike baits. Life is good my friend.

The core process is slick to say the least and once you get the hang of it you can core twenty bait bodies then go back and do the core injection in any color you want.

I will say if you like the E-cores then you need the CNC mold version. The ES version doesn't put out a clear bait and makes it hard to see the line in the middle. But is great for just having a tail change color. I'm still experimenting. But so far am liking what I see.

Way to noodle it out, Lamar!
