Plastisol
« on: 12/16/17 15:53 UTC »
I have some Caney Creek Crystal Clear plastisol. It’s milky white and I heat it in 30 second intervals. I’m stirring it at every interval but it never turns clear. It gets kinda reddish. Im checking the temp with a heat gun while stirring it. What am I doing wrong?

I'm guessing it has surpassed it's useful age. I had some plastisol do the same thing after it was stored for 2 years. No matter how much I mixed it and how careful I was during the heating process it turned a reddish brown. I bought a new batch and solved the problem. I really don't know what the shelf life is, but I think the storage environment has a lot to do with the life of the plastisol. Mine had been stored where it could freeze in the garage.

I was afraid of that. I bought it second hand from someone getting out of making plastics so I have no idea the age or how it was stored. I’ll order some new and see how it goes. Dumb question but does anyone know if it can be salvaged?

If it reaches the turn over of 350° many colors can still be made. They may be a bit less transparent, but still very fishable. Green pumpkin is an all around bass catching color. That is what I made with mine. Darker motor oil can be made too.

Lol I may be able to come up with my own custom color from it.
