 That is a good idea. I make a few of mine when I make my chatterbaits. I pour my jig and cut off the extra lead that fills where the fiber guard goes. Not perfect but it does work.

  I think I'm like you in that I hate to buy anything that I could make. I don't use many nail weights but the guys that do this mold would be nice to have.

I use my shakey head mold and pour without the hook. Gives me plenty of sizes.

A spool of medium diameter solder cut to length would also work.

On the cheap, this is what I would also recommend; however, if you are looking for something far more secure, try snipping the stem from a worm nose weight because the barbs will help hold it in your plastic.

I used the gammy round head mold, pour and trim off the eye hole that got filled
