Disco Violet
« on: 01/28/12 23:18 UTC »
Has anyone used the disco violet glitter?  I tried it out and didnt get the outcome I was wanting.  Once i stirred it in it lost its violet tint.  I put it in at low temps also.  Kinda sounds like its doing what the opal does from what i read.  This is the look I was going for but in a fry!  Any idea  for the violet glitter?

RonDon, did you use a quality heat grade glitter or did you use a walmart, etc, glitter?

Good looking bait.  I would be curious to see what it did in different light conditions.

I have the same problem with Shad that I bought from another site. Too hot and it turns gold, it's supposed to be a blueish/silver.

The pic I posted is one off Z's site. I love the UV violet look. I thought LC disco glitter was going to get me there but not so much!  This does the same Kip...  Turns gold as u stir it in.  I even tried adding it to plastic under 300 deg but the same thing happened.

There must be some pearl or a small dab of white in there....are you sure the colorant isn't blocking light?

Nope not the colorant thats doing it.  I just was hoping someone had a lead on what glitter Z**m was using in this color.  If you get a chance to pick up a pack and look at in the light you see why im wanting some of the violet!  Id really like to add it in some of my S&P  fryes!

Disco Violet!  ;D

The glitter is like an iridescent violet.  If any of you tie jigs it looks similar to a UV violet flashabou. Shows up at different angles much like a hilite would.

Go look at Michaels or Hobby Lobby for the expensive scrap booking glitters. Stampendous glitter will take the heat no problem. They make it super small to 0.08 in size and bigger. I have some smaller stuff like that in the disco green color. It is not exact but pretty close. I did add a tiny touch of green hi-lite in mine to show the bait off a bit. Not much though.

Be ready to pay for that glitter though. It is expensive but a little goes a long way!
