Rainbow Trout
« on: 05/16/18 17:42 UTC »
New to the forum and injecting.  This is prolly my 5th pour in total with the midwest mold.  Its been a fairly simple process thanks to all the you tube videos and this forum.  I couldn't find a rainbow trout color using the colors I had, so I made my own.

I used 4.5 ounces of soft do it molds plastisol
16 drops of green pumpkin
Black flake .015?
The second laminate was a mixture from another batch, some guessing on this one, lol
4.5 ounces soft do it molds plastisol
1 drop of white
halo silver .008
Black flake .015?
2 or 3 ounces plastisol
JJs magic Methylate, about 15-20 drops into brand new plastisol, cold.  **This stuff has a very violent reaction if you do it when plastic is hot!!!

-poured fist layer by hand
-poured pink by hand on top of first layer
--injected green pumpkin.

I could have tried a core shot but like this result, we will see what the fish think this weekend.

It's been my experience that the JJ's bleeds.  I hope that won't happen for you but it may after those baits sit for a couple weeks.  Just giving you a heads up, but great work!

Welcome to Do-It Mold's forums!

Violent reaction....sounds like this has an alcohol or water base. Better be checking that because you do get nasty things happening if you add anything alcohol or water based to hot plastic. At the very best, consider yourself lucky you didn't get covered with hot plastic....definitely not good. You never want to use anything that does not have an oil base to your plastic before cooking, after cooking or during cooking.
