The 660 acre lake north of town has finally begun to show some signs of life. A buddy and I hit it this morning and we did pretty good on crappies. Many of the males have started to color up well and a couple of hen fish I kept to check still had fairly firm spawn in them. The water temps just now are warm enough to draw the fish out of the deep water and they've begun to stage on shallow shoreline water now. We're about three weeks behind the usual time this season.
Purple/chartreuse tail 1.5" Thump-Its ruled early on but by 900 the same bait is clear-partycrasher glitter/chartreuse tail took the honors until we left. The crappies really hammered that partycrasher bait. This is a great shot showing the glitter at work
Not much traffic on the lake today, which is good....maybe everyone is heading north.
As for ya'll.....have a great Memorial Day weekend and remember why we have the holiday. Stay safe in your travels!
