Tube X Mold - Hook options

On the tube x mold, other than the specified 410/413, what other hooks are people using successfully in these.  I would prefer to stay with a fine or medium hook, rather than a heavy 60 degree.

Use the Eagle Claw 2729 black platinum from a 1/0 and up. If using a 3/0 or 4/0 you'll want a Mustad 32729 or the VMC 7219. Don't make the mistake of thinking the Eagle Claw hooks aren't good, the newer black platinum hooks are as good, if not better, than the Mustads.

100% agree on this statement. The 32500BN series Mustads are awfully good hooks too, if you're looking for a 90 degree leg.

Has anybody tried using a 2/0 or 3/0 90 degree in the 1/16 tapered tube jig mold?  Calls for a 4 or 6, but I can't see why the larger hook wouldn't work.  Maybe a little dremel work on the hook shank area?  I have some current areas that I like to just drift a tube on.  Too heavy and you are hung up.  Even with a 1/16 on a 3.5 tube I will go through a handful each time on this particular area.  Thank you.

Had a friend that modified a 1/16 round ball mold to fit a 1/0 and it was a great jig that we used for ring worms on a clear water lake for bass. I think it would be a great jig in the tapered tube jig for a 3.5 tube.

For the light weights I use the RHB-6-1816 round head jig mold. It has 3 cavities of 1/16oz and 3 cavities of 1/8oz but they use large hooks. The mold allows you to use a 2/0 or 3/0 hook in both the 1/16oz and 1/8oz sizes. I use them when I need a light weight for a 3.5" tube because the ball head fits in the tube really well and it uses hooks that are big enough for a larger tube.
