Caught some studs today. Thanks to all that would rather hunt and those that winterized your boats. Had the lake to myself. They ate the ripper up.

Those are some great bass, Lamar. You had a very good day. I don't ever put my boat up, I like the fishing better, now through winter, better than in the hot summer time.

Nice catch Lamar. The bass fishing has been on fire around here also. I have had the lake all to myself for a few weeks, great time of year to fish.

Our water temps are down in the low 50's now. You need a sunny day to bring the shad to the surface. The bass will go to the ends of trees hanging over deep water and wait for the balls of bait to swim by. I just use a swimbait or a small square bill crank bait and fish the ends of the trees. It seems like you have to hit the limb and then pause it and that's when they grab it. Yesterday had a little more wind then I like and the bait didn't want to come all the way to the surface so that's when the ripper got me deeper. This year I got that spot lock on my the trolling motor. That thing is flat out awesome. A true game changer. I would get around 20 feet out from the ends and hit spot lock. Then I could take multiple cast and really work it over and that boat never moves on you. I combined that with my Humminbird Helix side imaging and I could see what trees had balls of bait around them. It was a no brainer which ones to fish.

It always helps when you have the toys that make your time on the water really productive. Knowledge of the body of water and past experience helps a lot also.

Truth ! I go to Canada every year and I leave up there an old portable fish finder that maybe I could sell for 10 bucks and a hand held GPS. Yet I'll catch walleyes in a week there then I do all year long here on my home lakes.

Winterize your boat. How do you do that?
I love this time of year. Now till it's to froze to put my boat in is my favorite time to fish.
