Do-It does the Carrib.....
« on: 03/18/19 12:38 UTC »
Carole and I did an 8 day cruise thru the Iles of the Saints and returned home late last night. We flew to San Juan Puerto Rico and hopped on board the Carnival Cruise ship Fascination. Here we are on the island of, what else, of St. Thomas at the highest point on the island at the Banana Daiquiri shop. The hat I'm holding is a Do-It hat.

On Weds of the cruise we got on board a deep sea craft and spent 6 hours on 6000 feet of blue searching for blue and white Marlin. We had three decent follows and a couple of short hits but no fish hooked up. What a great way to spend a day. Just the chases we were treated to were unreal. After the fishing we returned to St Lucia and did some shopping before we were off again.

On Friday we spent the day on a black sand beach on St.Kitts. It was hotter than heck so I stayed under the roof of the Cabana at the diner. The beer was cold and I chowed down on conch fritters. Conch shells are those shells you hold up to your ears to hear the waves and the critter inside is like a super sized snail. Cleaned they are pretty tasty when cooked up.

It was tough to come home and see snow but at least its come down a lot. The weeks weather forecast is super too so more should be leaving fairly fast and then rain by the weekend to help even more.

We had a great time but of course it went too fast. Still, its good to be back home.

Man Tom you been riding a chicken to get legs that look like that ? The Caribbean is a beautiful place to be. About three years ago after I had my hip replaced we went to St Lucia for a week to relax. The doctor said I could walk all I wanted just couldn't drive for six weeks so we walked the beaches everyday. It was very pretty. And this time of year it's a nice break from the winter. Glad you guys had fun.

Our head server on the cruise boat lives in Peru when she's not on board. Wonderful lady and I thought of you and your South American travels when she served us.

St. Lucia is indeed a fine place Lamar. The first time we were there I spent the day alone walking thru the bizarre that was set up in the old downtown and then the little fishing boat harbor near the commercial docks. I met a couple old, and I mean old, fishermen sitting on plastic crates cleaning their daily catch of ballyhoo. They couldn't understand me and I sure as heck couldn't understand them, but I think there's a universal understanding between fishermen regardless of what culture they are from. They treated me to some smoked and dried ballyhoo they had and while I wasn't crazy for it I ate with them. They sat for a quick picture before I went back to the boat and I gave each one a five spot for their time and companionship. The rest of our crew went on an island tour that day and they came back bitching about a number of things so I feel like I came out ahead.

I left my heart in Peru and Ecuador. Those people were so nice to us. I will forever remember them.

Tom...Carole is so much more better looking than you that it sickens me to see her stand so close to you.  Are you holding her captive?  Are the rumors of her blindness true?
Until next time.
