As we all know, the weather's changing. Frequent (and usually short) snaps of cool and warm, spells of heavy wind and rain, and fluctuations of Barometric Pressure, varying cloud-cover, etc. Approaching weather systems tend to cause drops in pressure, and the pressure continues to fall as the system gets closer...low pressure expands/relaxes a fishes stomach and they get hungry...rising/high pressure shrinks their stomach. There's a system approaching, as we speak.
Hit Okhissa today...overcast skies, high wind, still cool water. 1st ammo was soft plastics, mostly turned up zero, a few bumps. Changed to the CCM Zipper Worm in a "natural" tan-ish/yellow-ish color with Shredded Shrimp mixed in the plastic, 1 good stick-and-miss. Got to thinkin', "how 'bout lets speed it up"...tied on a Lucky Craft S.K.T. D.R. Crankbait in Magic Craw color...slow-rolling the Crank', letting it dig the bottom, 1 strike...HEAVY fish, I couldn't do anything with it, it went where it wanted to. Maybe 5 seconds in, hooks pull out. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that really felt good!
Maybe 5 casts later, 2nd strike, nice Bass hangs on the thumb. Okhissa has a slot limit, any bass between 18"-22" are released...19.25" of pretty Largemouth swims again. Switched to the S.K.T. M.R. in Magic Craw, 1 strike, feels like a keeper, but again, the hooks pull free...nice boil on the water is all that's left.
Switched to a semi-custom 1/4 oz. Spinnerbait in "Bluegill" and a Hildebrandt 3.5 Gold Willow (small blade for 1/4 oz.)...keeper Bass about 17" and quite healthy will be dinner for the Wife and I, tonight.
I'm thinking...sauteed 'n crisp, loose hash browns with parmesan cheese, with a white Whipping Cream Sauce (basicly Alfredo) and green onions, served over/on top of the lightly seasoned, Pan-Sauteed Bass filets, and a simple salad on the side...and sweet tea...amen.
A light harvest can yield a simple, extremely tasty meal...Praise GOD...Grace and Provision...Love.
