adding a weed guard to a mold?

how hard is it to add a weed guard to a mole that doesnt have one? what tools do i need to make this happen? i was thinking a dremel an the appropriate size bits!

When modifying a mold it really depends how it’s laid out . You might have to sacrifice a cavity next to it to get the wire in or maybe not.

Lay the wire in the mold were you want it than close the mold and tap it just enough to make a mark so you can cut the mold so the guard will fit and yes the dremel is the tool for the job

This is the one I use the most but you need to have a steady hand so don’t drink to much coffee before you try to cut a straight line. Practice on a scrap piece of aluminum before attempting so you get a feel and control of it.

And remember to cut only half the thickness on each side so the mold will close.

All good advice.... I prefer the bit shown below. And cut the path all except for the last 1/8 inch at the lead cavity. Then put the weed guard in the mold and tap mold closed with a hammer.  This will hold the weed guard firmly in the mold and keep you from getting any flash.

I also have used the small ball more than any other when doing my mods.
