The 12" Stump Thumper TAIL Mold makes great Swim Jig Trailers. Very little plastic, nice and thin so there's not much in the way of the hookset, but enough plastic to thump real nice and support a 3/0 EWG.
Shot in Soft, the 1/4 oz. Poison Swingtail head is enough to keep the Trailer from spinning the Jig.
Shot in Medium/Regular, at least a 3/8 oz. Poison Swingtail head is needed to keep the Jig stable and not spinning, as this Trailer shot in Regular will spin a 1/4 oz. PST head.
Great Thump. Less Plastic.
I shoot mine in Clear Soft most of the time. I don't want more visual length in my Swim Jigs, as I believe I'm fishing the Skirt, not the Trailer. The Skirt, when imitating Baitfish, is the whole story. When imitating a Craw, the story changes.
For straight-tailed Swim Jig Trailers, I like the 3" Skinny Carrot as it's narrow (little plastic) and plenty length and mass to support a hook...and they come 12 in a shot.
