Days 2 and 3 Fishing the OBX Sound
« on: 06/26/19 20:18 UTC »
Yesterday was just plain horrible fishing. I managed 4 trout in 5hrs. However, in talking with others I did pretty well. On guy summed it up as “boy it was very sporty yesterday”.

Today I put in at the marina at Oregon Inlet. I did not go out to the channel after several locals warned against it because of the current. So, I did some sightseeing paddling and ended up fishing the north side pillars of the newly constructed Herbert C. Bonner Bridge. Oddly enough the water depth in that area was only a mere 3-4’ deep in most spots. I managed to come away with two new to me species baby reds and sheeps head. Total for the day 20ish but no size. Those sheep head fight like a linebacker on a combination of steroids and methamphetamine.

Some fishing of this sort is on my list. It has to be fun catching such an assortment.
