Finesse jig mold hook?
« on: 09/14/19 18:35 UTC »
Anybody have any ideas where the hook in this jig came from?
Custom made?
I've about worn Google out.
Yes I know it would take a bit of tinkering to make it work with the mold but could be done.
Thanks.

That is a regular off set ewg worm hook with a size "0" ss sinker insert molded together.

A week or so ago I saw a guy on facebook taking orders for that hook. He was having them custom made to make that exact jig.

The benefit of doing it my way allows you to use different brand and size hooks for different baits...

21xdc told me about that as I thought it was a custom hook as well. I then found the guy making them and it was confirmed that it was indeed a size "0" stainless steel sinker eye.

Thanks all for the help sounds like there's others trying to do the same thing.
I found a Gamakatsu "jig" that looks like the hook I'm looking for but the hook doesn't appear to be available separate and a bit big.
https://www.gamakatsu.com/product/bottom-knocker-offset/
I'm very interested in the sinker eye concept, of coarse no one in my area has any so will have to order some to try.
I would think, and sometimes I over think things that with the eye method and say a 4 pound smallie that the jig would "straighten" out for lack of better words?
Any link to the fellow that was selling the hooks?

The hook eyelet should be farther into the mold... But you got the idea I was saying.

I left it out as far as I could so I could get as much plastic on the hook as possible.
I am able to "move" the hook up a bit as needed.
Gonna go and toss some freedom fries tomorrow an see how it works.
I looked at the hooks the guy had on Facebook and I'm not so sure that they are gonna work, still have not seen one of those hooks laying in a mold.

Wonder what the action of what ever you put on it is. And what application? I know you could make it weedless ?
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

The idea is that you are Texas rigging the bait you use with it so it will be weedless without any type of weed guard. This is a weedless version of a Ned rig without an exposed hook and a weed guard.
