vino

Last Friday I started a batch of grape wine. A friend had a huge bumper crop this year while our own grape yield was bad so I picked enough to do a couple gallons. It turned out to be enough for about four gallons. I have it in the primary fermenter yet and that fermentation lock is just a bubbling away like crazy.

Our Fronteca grapes did not like the growing season's start at all so we saw very few grapes on the vines. The Frontenac grapes make a real nice rose wine even though the grapes are a dark purple, almost black in color. The wine is a sweeter wine and absolutely delicious as an after dinner type of wine. I'm not entirely certain what the variety is of the grapes I have working right now but the wine is a beautiful burgundy. The grapes themselves are smaller than a Concord and are seedless and were quite sweet when we picked them. Carole likes to whip up a batch of Sangria every now and again and this new wine should fit the bill for that in a big way. When it hits the bottles in two months I'll get pictures.

I'm not familiar with that wine 21. Is it a sweet red?

It’s the closest thing to home made Italian red wine. Look it up. :-)
