Fishing this week....
« on: 04/01/20 09:17 UTC »
I finally got wet a line. Not much for action but I wet a line. lol

Yesterday I fished the Mississippi in a sailboat harbor from the docks. The big river is high there and the water is quite cool yet at 42 degrees.. I thought I'd find crappies but they were willing to play in the cold front so I came home before the masses that descend on the docks showed up.

This morning I went to our local lake north of town and fished the dock I always do in the very early spring. A week ago it was packed full of trees and wood washed up against it with high water. I swung in yesterday on my way home thinking I'd help some of the crap along to go into the current, but nature already took care of that. I found 42 degree water this morning. Rain was threatening when I got there so the fishing was a hurry-up affair. A purple/chartreuse 1.5" Thump-It was evidently a favorite of carp as I caught two right off. I had one decent hit that was definitely crappie when I set the float at 9 feet but missed it just as the sprinkles began so I boogied. Of course by the time I got home the sun is almost shining thru thin clouds here and bone dry.

Oh well, its great to be out.

Here in northern Indiana it's cold, cold, cold! I want to get started on the garden. Wife told me the garden is going to be very important this year. Some are calling on this virus to last through August. Will the farmers be able to sell their produce? Will prices be sky high? No one catching much on our lakes. Waiting on some warm days to put my pier in.
