weather

Right now we have the temperatures and the winds needed to declare it a hurrican. All we need is rain to go with it.

I put Ma's St. Patrick's day flag out the other day and the shamrocks that were hanging on cloth stems have vanished now. Gone. That flag has hung out there at this time of year for maybe ten seasons and we've never had a problem. Boy will she be unhappy when she gets home. This wind is ridiculous, but I do like the 60"s in early March.

Since we're talking weather-
We just moved my sister and hubby to our town from their old town- only 3 hours from here.  The morning we pulled out it was 20 degrees at their place.  When we pulled in here it was 72 degrees.  It is supposed to snow tomorrow.  Today I was outside on car washing duty and was sweating my butt off.

For you northern guys, here's the greatest- in the 10 years I have lived in southern Oregon, the snow has stuck twice.  Neither time enough to have to shovel.  At 2 inches they close down the schools.  In a normal winter, it will snow maybe 3 times and never for longer than an hour or so.  Basically we get the beauty of the snow without all the hassle.  (and never are the lakes frozen :) )  Typically, summer starts in late April and goes all the way through October.  We have "300 days of sun".  I was born and raised in Illinois, Minnesota, and Colorado.  I am very much aware of the blessing of the weather here. :)

Lastly, C-Tom, we had a windstorm a few weeks back and I have a canopy I use to shield the eastern side of the shop from the direct sun.  The wind got so bad my wife, who was in the upstairs office, saw that canopy right next to her window.  I'll have to dig around and find the pictures.  It lifted that thing straight up, turned it upside down, and dropped in on my deck, about 40 feet away.

Here in California we usually throw our old ice cubes out in front of the boat.  You guys up North think you have it bad.  Well, let me tell ya...you try walking on ice cubes.
Until next time.
