Essential series grub

I’ll have to say I was really surprised with this grub over the weekend.  I had 3 smallmouth over 18” on them & 2 largemouth  the same size Saturday night &  the same last night. The thing is my buddy which is an outstanding jig  fishermen  was flat wearing them out too, but only had one 18” plus smallmouth which is  just  a keeper here.?Another buddy only had 1 keeper largemouth Sunday night  The grub was definitely the difference in getting the bigger bites for sure. The other jigs were fished with zoom swimming, ultra vibe & super chunk jr.  trailers which are usually the go to in this country. I’ll have to say i’m liking these grins for sure.   Now I have to make more for tomorrow nights tournament.

We’re you swimming the 3” single or the  4” twin tail. I’ve used the 3” single tail with great success in smoke with silver halo, yellow chartreuse with lime and copper, Flo blue with silver halo, root beer with gold and black. Motor oil with gold and red, purple with Canadian blue and green. All colors are transparent so the flake really pops. Plus each color has UV powder in them.

I was using the 3" single tail. I was actually making a bunch of the other trailer styles i mentioned & only had a little plastic left so i thought i'd shoot the grub mold to see what they looked like in sapphire blue after i had to strip the paint off after i tried to paint them to make the baits shiny. Needless to say they worked great & were almost identical to zooms saphire blue.   I think  that the grub that definitely  has a different thump then the other trailers & was the difference maker. I know there won'y be any moonlight in time tomorrow night until after my tournament, but i made up a bunch of green pumpkin colored ones to try then to see if i get the same results as far as bites go.  I also have an all nighter Friday that i'll be using them in to see if the bite quality is better with them. One thing for sure if the  bites are better i sure won't be telling anybody about them.

Hope they get a positive response. And I know what you mean about trying to keep something special color for your self.  Had two guy fishing last year ask to see what I was using for walleye’s in the fall.
So I threw it in there boat to the guy in the back and he picked it up and said to the guy in the front have you ever seen this color before then he asked me we’re I got it and I said I made and all was ha It sure works for walleye’s.

I can't count how many times that's happened since I began injecting my own. Other than clear or white I don't think I make a color right out of the bottle....always a blend of two or three colors or an off-setting hi lite color. Blue hi lites in hot pinks and chartreuses makes these simple colors turn a corner that really opens eyes.

I blend a lot of colors too. I just made something like zooms tomato with cherry seed, white & yellow the other night for my hair jigs & i also use brown base green pumpkin, green base green pumpkin & yellow to make my green pumpkin.

Lureworks merthiolate is a color that when added to either fluorescent orange or hot pink can really make them crank. The merthiolate has both fluorescent orange and hot pink in it. A little goes a long way with it when mixed into the flo orange or hot pink, but sure makes them singular in color when compared to most retail baits.

I love the  3" es grub the only thing I didn't like about it was the dull finish.  I  been thinking about  picking  that mold up again and  masking it off  and give a good coat of high temp engine  heat paint to give the gloss look.  I wish Do It would make the 3" in a cnc mold.  I  currently have the 3.8" OG Grub mold and  its really awesome.   I just need to figure out the right size hook I need for the  OG Grub. I mostly  catfish and panfish  never really got into Bass a lot but I'm giving  it another shot just so much to learn.  I  think what got me started was catching Hybrid Stripers  here with this Bass thing.

Shaun i painted mine with 1200* high heat paint & had to strip it back off. The stripper i used brought the dull finish off & left a gray like aluminium finish on the ground where i sprayed them down. Now my baits are shiny.

By the way i lost a big one last night that cost us a second place win. Again my buddy that i fished with saturday night saw the grub getting more & by far the bigger bites. Now i have to make him some & we'll be competition against each other Friday night.

Doesn't bother me at all. He's fishing with his son & i'll have my normal partner. The buddy use to be my tournament partner & we won a whole  lot together. We fish together when we can & are fishing a Tuesday nighter right now together.
