Question for you northern pike folks...
« on: 03/15/12 18:47 UTC »
What colors do you find most productive for each season-winter, spring, summer, fall?  Also, what are your thoughts on the 7" Wutz-It for the pike?  I was going to sell my Wutz-It mold, but then I had second thoughts and decided to keep it, and I think it could be effective for these beasts, but I thought I better ask those who actually fish for them.  I have not fished for northern since I lived in Illinois and fished in Minnesota, 20 years ago.

Thanks gang!

A 7" Wutz-it makes a great Northern Pike bait (definitely not too big!). My favorite Northern Pike bait colors are white, Silver bottom...black top, chartreuse and baby bass. I like to fish them on a big jig head (big swim jig with no skirt).

When the top water bass bite falls into the heat of summer I find red/black a great color combination for attracting the teeth.
Andrews color selection is also a great one. I don't often target pike, but they seem to have me on their list when I am throwing $8.00 top waters. lol

We target them a few days when we are in Northern WI during the summer and I have had my best results with a bubblegum/pearl white laminate. Not sure why but it our produces by a mile...

7" wutz-it should be perfect!!!
