Ice and open water
When using tubes and casting to fish it gives the tube a different look to it over the standard tube jig.

Shaun, here's the bat head after I got rid of the stub collar and added a 570 style hook. Seen here is the 1/32 head with a #8 Lil Nasty Eagle Claw hook. I fish these off the dock while jigging pilings and do great with them when I add plastic.

These balance out beautifully with wax wigglers. I also have done this size with a #10 Lil Nasty but feel the #8 gets hooked up better.

Not bad. I was trying to make more of a body type jig to just hand a waxie or spike on. Like the way yours turned out, but not the body type I was looking for.

The eye pockets on these filled up pretty much since I was hand dipping in the powder coat, not that I'd use eyes but I like detail. The paint makes these appear larger than they are really. A waxie or a spike fits on the #10 hook great for sunfish while the #8 is about the smallest I like for crappie.

Shaun, for casting and retrieving somewhat larger crappie plastics in open water without using any floats its hard to beat that #6 odd wide gap hook called for in the bat jig only cast into a 1/16 collarless ballhead.

Oh those look fantastic tom. Yeah that's what I would like to do.  How much trouble was it to mod the mold?  I am not very skilled with that stuff but would like  the lil nasty hook. I also just  got the wax wiggler mold  not long ago and that would be perfect.

Use JBWeld to fill the cavities where the collar is and file it flat to the molds face when it hardens. Use a sharp, pointed knife tip to clean up the back of the head, then lay a 90 degree hook where the original hook channel is, getting the 90 degree eye about where you see here on mine, close the mold and hold the handles tightly together and give the face of the mold a light swat with a rubber or plastic hammer. Do each cavity with the hammer number separately. I used size 8 hooks in the 1/32 cavity and a size 6 in the 1/16 cavity. A size ten will fit in the 1/32 this way and a size 8 works slick in the 1/16 if you want smaller hooks. Pretty simple mod. When you cast just clean the original eye off the head with a sharp knife. Not much to it.
