Ned Rig EWG
« on: 12/01/20 09:59 UTC »
Did anyone have any luck with using the stainless eye through the lead. I believe they are using the size 0 stainless steel eye from Do -it.  If so, any tips or tricks.  What hook seemed to work the best?

I want to make some Neds with the EWG hook, but the guy on Facebook sells them by the 1000.  I only want to pour a couple dozen to start.  Who modified their mold to accept the special hook from him, and if you did, you have any good pictures?  I appreciate the help guys.

I am new to this forum.

Cheese Molds (Yes, I am from Wisconsin, so I thought the name would fit)

Welcome aboard neighbor....to the west.

I haven't done the mod to the molds I have but I've read a bit about it. I'm a panfish/crappie guy so its unlikely I'll do any thing to my molds. We have quite a pile of bass bangers here that will likely [hopefully] chime in, many of these guys are one to mod molds to suit their needs.

Again, welcome. Now prepare for the addiction. lol

This is not my picture but I have made them like this. They work fine. You do need to modify the mold some. I've seen those hooks too and everyone wants you to buy a 1000 or more.

Welcome Cheese Molds. You would want a long shank EWG so you maybe able to put the hook into the eye of hook for added security.

Thanks for the feedback everyone....

Hawgthumper,
You have several 1000 of what that you would send? EWG hooks, stainless steel wire eyes Or poured EWG jigs?  If so, how much? The reason I was looking to pour them myself is because I cant see paying the prices they want for Ned EWG hooks. I think they sell for like $1.50 each! Crazy.....

I actually paid 16 and a half cents for the hooks. I sell the weedless Neds for 3.50 for a pack of 5. I would send you some hooks for nothing. They’re all 2/0. Still waiting for the 1/0s

Hawg,

I sent you a message to see where you live.  Maybe you're close and we could meet.

Thanks,
Cheese

Thanks!

Thanks shmanks...  I knew you were willing to send a few hooks at no cost, so that's all you!

(I didn't have to build you up, you did it yourself, but you're welcome.)

Thanks everyone for the help.  Sounds like Hawgthumper is going to help me out with sending me some hooks.  Not too many complete strangers would do that, but fisherman seem to have each others back.  I have a feeling, he may not be sharing any of his 'hotspots' with me though!  LOL.   :)

Just so you guys know, Do-It molds sounds like they are working on a resolution in the future.  So hopefully they will have a mold and hooks available for this style Ned with the EWG soon.

Much Appreciated,
Cheese Molds
