Nice weather here....

We're sitting at 47 degrees right now at 8:23 and have been at this temp since about 7 AM. By ten tonight they say we'll be at -2 with winds gusting to 50 mph. When the weather guys locally started to yack about this stuff there was a fair sized chunk of SE Minnesota and a nice chunk of NE Iowa that was excluded from the festivities except the cold and wind. I can deal with the cold and wind if I WANT to. Now the forecast has the snow involved for everywhere it was supposed to be found in. Apparently 14" of it could fall somewhere west of here with my area getting maybe 4". Supposedly 4". I was honestly fine with brown for Christmas. Its a little cloudy and breezy but with 47 degrees I think I'll put some shorts on and enjoy the heat this morning on my walk. I don't want Lamberson to have a fence around the fun with warm temps.

The good news for many of ya'll is that this is apparently going to impact only a portion of upper Iowa, North and South Dakotas and Minnesota. Well, ok, western Ontario too. Maybe a far NW corner of Wisconsin. I feel so blessed to have winter arrive full bore. Got your shovel polished Andrew?

Brothers first trip with the combo I got him 48” hole hopping rod and reel. Still only have 4” of ice but there are colder days coming that will make ice in a hurry.

We were at 47 degrees yet at 1:30. 3:23 right now and 31. And windy. No snow but light rain occasionally. Going to be hard to suck up to that -3 in the morning I do know that.

It got up into the 60's here today, and the forecast is for possibly 73 tomorrow, with thunder storms possible. 

We're getting a cold front moving in that some of you folks have already had, so temps will drop about 30 degree's for daytime temps with winds up to 30 mph, and some rain, but the rain is supposed to blow out of here by 9 PM. It will be cool for Christmas Day, but still not really cold.

It was -1 below when I walked out to do the shoveling. 24 hours....48 degree temperature shift. With the 15 mph wind lets just say my hour outside was "refreshing".

On a positive note I did not have a lot of snow and what there was had no weight to it. More of it blew in than actually fell here. When this system got ramped up we were in a very dry pocket of air and most of the snow never made it to the ground. To the west 150 miles the national guard was called out to assist in getting people that were stranded on roads of the roads. West of Austin Minnesota I90 to South Dakota was closed as were Highways 14 and 212. I'm not at all sorry I missed all the fun. Now that were going to have a white Christmas we can go back to brown on the 26th and stay that way until next year's December 24.

The daughter lives in Afton Mn just SE of St. Paul and their power has been out for a while now. They had heavier snow and probably more rain turning to ice ahead of the snow.

It's in the 50s here  right now but the temperature is going to drop fast and 7 inches of snow is supposed to be on the ground by morning. We rarely have a white Christmas here in Southern Ohio  but its looking good for this year.
