For anyone that is interested, I thought I would share my opinion of the New Leylands/BnM TCB Ultralight rod that I recently posted about (I will also do likewised tor the Daiwa Presso but it is not scheduled to be here until tomorrow), Anyways, this rod is 6.5 feet with a fast tip, rated for lures as light as 1/64th oz. I found it interesting that there is no lure rating on the rod this info I got from the web site. Anyway, I spooled it with 4 pound nanofil with a 6 pound FC leader (I will go lighter on the leader but 6 was the lightest FC leader that I had). I fished it at a city park lake that has a lot of smaller bluegills and bass but some nice crappie. Tied on a 1/32 oz jig and a small paddletail (baitmolds) bait and let it fly. The rod performed flawlessly sending the jig out yonder. I think the combination of the fast tip and light braid really did a nice job of transmitting hits as I would get 2 or 3 bites on nearly every cast and they were readily felt. I caught 2 really nice bluegill on my first 2 casts. I only fished for 1 hour but on my 5th cast I hooked into a solid fish that had me reaching for my drag. Turned out I had a 12 inch crappie on the other end. This is FUN. It was starting to get warm and I needed to get home to make sure the wife was doing ok so I reluctantly left. Results of the day 8 bluegill, 1 warmouth, 4 dink bass and the 1 lone crappie all were released. Incidentally I put a Daiwa Regal 1000 LT on this rod. The Daiwa is in my opinion a much better reel than the Pflugar Presidents I have been using (I have 4). Smoother and a much better drag than the president and the cost is about the same. By the way the TCB rod is not a budget killer either coming in at about $65 bucks or so depending on where you get it. So that is my take on it. Anyone who likes UL fishing cannot go wrong with this rod,
