Finally got into Canada for some fishing. Been going here for over 20 years. I missed it.

I like the looks of the fillets but the knife attracted my attention.
There must be many stories there.

There must be many stories there.

That knife goes back to the mid 60's when my dad would take me back into the boundary waters in Minnesota. He wanted a good fillet knife so he bought it and wrapped the handle with the string to give it a better grip. My uncle Don at the time worked as a salesman for CBS that in those days the head quarters was in Cleveland Ohio. He use to make things out of leather just for fun and to give to his customers. Bob Hope use to wear one of his belts he made for him. Uncle Don saw the knife one day and made a sheath for it. So for me it has a lot of karma to it and has great value. Todays knifes are made of much better steel but I'd still rather use this one. I can't even begin to tell you how many walleyes this knife has cleaned over the last 50 some years.

Looks wonderful Lamar. Back in the 60's I traveled into Ontario to hunt spring bear and do some early spring pike fishing. Back then we could sit in a boat and hear chainsaws all day long but could never find where they were cutting.....that's wilderness.

It was maybe five years ago we could hear them cutting trees in the background. Other then that I don't ever remember hearing that. It's part of the forest management system. Not sure how long it takes for the tree to grow so they can harvest them again but they'll be back then. The nice part is they leave about a hundred yards around the lakes and roads that they don't touch. So you really don't notice it
