CUSTOM PAINTED CRANK BAITS
« on: 11/15/21 01:24 UTC »
I assume there are some here that custom paint hard baits or know someone that does. IM wondering if this Reflective Chrome color can be replicated?

Only if you have your blanks electro plated or buy blanks that already are. I have tried all of the available chrome paints and techniques and they all fall short.

Welcome to the Do-It forums CarmeloLabadie

A person can foil his blanks prior to painting but the end result can be a bit disappointing. Anything foiled needs to get many, many very light applications of paint, each heat set, to achieve any depth to the colors going on and even then the surface tension of the foil can cause the paint to spider-web.

I've foiled quite a few small crank baits, 1.2" down to .7", with some success but as the size goes up so does the headaches with the paint application even when the foil is etched after applying.
