We had a couple inces of fluff snow to shovel yesrday morning and then the winds picked up. Blew well into the 40MPH range most of the day then settled down to about 20 overnight. Just enough to blow all the snow from the outlying fields into towm. I live at least 6 miles from the corporate city limits in three directions and at least 10 from the other. We had no more snow since it stopped yesterday morning but the 1.5" of snow I had to shovel this morning again was almost a dark brown from all the soil dust the wind picked up with the snow as it crossed open land and fields. I just read an article about fall tilling and how much topsoil gets swept away during the winter and I guess whoever wrote that article had a good grip on that reality. I think my garden just got a refresher of about an inch of new soil, along with the front yard. Its crazy how much dirt is literally in our air.
