It got to near 40 today and with a little help from the heater the shop got up to a cozy 60+ degrees so I dug out the ES Wave Worm and the 4.5 " Lake Fork Lizard mold and had some fun.

The Wave Worms were done by first injecting the tail only sections to get enough tails to fill the mold. After trimming they were laid back in and the real fun began. Nine holes, bang, bang, bang....rapid fire. There's a whole day of fishing in that pile. What's not to love about that mold and how fast it shoots? While I haven't fished the Wave Worm yet, similar baits I have fished in real cold water have smoked walleyes, so I have no doubt they'll work fine. As for a scent these will get soaked will get soaked in a bait bag doused with Gulp juice.
The lizards are another great walleye bait that the Lingner Bros gave away one cold morning at the Red Wing dam. They were filming and catching some heft eyes so we smoozed over near them to watch. What should those guys be using? Why, a lizard bait. So.... Over the years I have used lizards an winter walleyes on several occasions and one thing that's apparent is that the larger fish seem to enjoy eating them. Fished on a jig just like a swimbait, they can really damage the walleyes. The lizards and those I make to follow will all see the bait bag and Gulp as well.
The colors used in the lizards is a watermelon green back with heavy red .015 glitter. The bellys are done in clear plastic laced heavily with equal parts of red and orange micro glitter, that sold in the paint area of Do-Its catalog or the glitter section on-line. This super fine glitter comes in one ounce bottles.
Both of these baits will be fished on 3/16 to 1/4 ounce teardrop heads with keeper wires, on 4/10 braid. Going to be a deadly approach.
