Just tinkering
« on: 02/21/22 16:07 UTC »
I, like many of us have been shooting baits getting ready for the spring season that will soon be here.  I was shooting some crappie tubes when a idea struck me ( I know that hurts me to sometimes).  I took the pins from my tube mold and placed them carefully in the tail section of my ex finesse mold.  I then shot the mold slowly to keep the plastic from shifting the pins too much.  I then took the bats out and inspected them.  The pins were not exactly centered  but pretty close.  I got out my trusty scissors made one slice up the bait to halve the bottom of the bait then one more slice up each half and instant ticklerz.  Pretty pleased with how they came ojt
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

It would be nice if you found a tech savvy helper (for photo uploading) so we can better appreciate your activities... these sound pretty neat and I sure would like to see pictures of them.

So would I.  I can’t wrap my head around what you did.

Well, I am too stupid to post photos but I think I may be able to explain it a little better.  Basically, I made a tube out of the Midwest finesse rig by inserting a small rod into the lower half of each cavity.  When I shoot it the plastic flows around said rod.  After I remove I cut the tail and take out the rod leaving a bait with a solid top half but hollow bottom..  Now I make a slice from the bottom up to where it is solid which will give me two legs.  I make another cut through the center of each of the legs which gives me a 4 legged Ned rig.  Does that make any more sense?

Makes sense to me.  Sounds like an interesting idea.  Be curious to see how it fishes.

Now I think that I understand.  You are making a solid head sort of tube bait.

I add a skirt to a midwest finesse bait or an essential series senko with a hot knife that the smallmouth will hit a lot harder most times than the same baits   without a skirt. I figure its the tentacles on the tail like it is on a tube.
