crappie minn'rs

These 1-3/4" minnow baits are about #3 in my crappie plastic line-up and they are with me all the time during open water. The four colors shown here will go into a jar of Gulp juice until a hook is calling for them. I also whip up some purple, clear/ partycrasher glitter, and clear /bluegill glitter blend....all with chartreuse tails.... that helps round out the colors I prefer. These were done with the Do-It Twin Injector, Do-It colorants, glitter, and hi lite components using Essential plastic. These 4 colors are fish getters when Crappies are hot on a Gulp bite. The top two colors are probably my best producers when using this bait.

Nicely done Tom.  I have that same mold in the 2.25 size and also use it with good success.

Those look really good I've been playing around with that mold as well.  I have been trying to do some laminate with it but  little bit tricky using the plate. I went to get the dual injector from do it but they are out of stock so tinkering around with the laminate plate a little.

I had little success with the plate using this mold Shaunm81. Hand pouring the belly half isn't too hard though. The twin injector really takes the work out of it though.

What Tom said.  Before I got my dual injector I would hand  pour the bellies, then clamp the mold and put it on my griddle to heat up while my plastic was cooking.  I would heat the plastic to 360 or thereabouts and shoot the top color.  I never had one separate that way.

Thanks Tom and Sarge.   Yeah I must have tried 10 straight times and not getting to far with this laminate plate and it's probably not helping matters with it being the smaller  1.5" silver fish.   I have cranked up to 350-360 degrees  plastic temperature to shoot the top color but not getting anywhere.    Yeah I think I probably should try belly hand pours like you guys have suggested.

Shaun, use a smaller spoon with a fairly pointed tip. Keep the spoon real warm and after every other dip-pour clean the stuck plastic off it to help keep your pouring the small cavities clean. Check a couple thrift stores for your spoons. They usually have a pile of silverware priced about a quarter per piece and generally have a substantial selection of spoons.

The bass tend to like the blue glitter/chartreuse in the dirty water down here.
