2-1/2" Fry baits with color shift
« on: 04/22/22 14:25 UTC »
These guys light it up nicely. Both colors are done with color shifting pigments that have been dry brushed across the almost-black-smoke backs of the baits. The smoke also has just a pinch of watermelon green plastic melted into it. The bellies are the Party Crasher glitter in clear.

The five on the right with the copper colored [orange] backs are done with a super shift pigment called Arson. It shifts colors between gold, green, orange and red. In the picture you can see most of the colors at different points on the baits.

The five baits on the left are done with another super shift called Twisted Guava. This pigment goes from gold to green to orange to pink. At different points on the bodies, you can see the green and pink primarily, however the gold can be found too, it's just not as vivid and more towards the front ends of a couple baits.

The mold makes twelve baits but one of each color went fishing this morning. The Twisted Guava bait accounted for roughly half of the fish caught. The Arson bait took a dandy largemouth.

After you brush the pigments on do you give the bait a dip in clear plastic to seal the pigments in?

Are they laminates or do you pour the bellys then inject?

I hand-pour the bellies, then inject to finish.
