Well....
« on: 02/21/23 09:01 UTC »
.... the snow blower has been filled with petro and the oil leveled off. The shovel is right near the garage door. I have a case of Coors in the shop along with a handful of bourbons so I guess I'm as prepared as I can get for this storm system that's supposed to dump anywhere from 3" to 23" of snow over the next couple days.

Lots of people swear that these storms show up during high school basketball tournament time. I say switch the tournaments to during the Christmas break, and let us get on with spring.

I just added new rubber boots to my snowblower and nothing but 40's and 50's in the forecast for the next 10 days. You need to scare it away.

Naw.... I'm going to the shop and get it heated up nice and finish some injecting I have been working on for another donation. If it's going to snow, it's going to snow. Screw it. If it starts getting bad, I'll keep the driveway cleared at different point thru the storm. I don't like the idea of not being able to get out if I absolutely need to. The sidewalk? When its done and the city has finished messing up life I'll clear them.

I’m still kicking rocks and cussing over not getting any hard water this year!  Our forecast for the next two weeks is daytime low 50’s to high 70’s with frequent rain. I took the kayak out for the year’s first run on Sunday. Temps went from 29 at 8:00am to 57 at 2:00.  From the last rain system the lake was up above winter pool a good 2-3’. Musky fishermen galore and me slinging 1/16oz jigs.  ;D

Keep us updated on snow totals and be safe.

Another example of how upside down the weather has been here. The Easter Lillys came up and bloomed this this past weekend. This evening I heard frogs sounding off. This is the earliest I can ever remember both of them poking their heads out.

The first round of snow was nice to us. I measured only 6" before I started blowing. The snow was very fine and dry. We were at 18 degrees yesterday when it started and was still at 18 when I went out to clear it at 5:10 this morning. I just got in now and the temp has dropped to 15.

They're predicting round two to start around mid-morning and last until noon tomorrow. With high winds. Rochester sits in a huge depression with high prairie all around the city. Wind won't be too big of a factor in town, but the outlying areas are all under blizzard warnings already. That blizzard warning runs right up to the city limits according to the map they show. Technically, the city is under a winter storm warning and the difference between the two warnings is basically how they are spelled.

All of the moisture associated with this big blow is in Iowa. The Do-It crew is likely seeing rain, slush, but they're dry down there rainfall-wise from last year.

Time to makle the coffee, grab a shower and relax while awaithing the second wave to get ramped up.

Here in Ohio the worst month to live here is March and a week or two before and after. Rains one day and snows the next and everything is muddy. Raining with thunderstorms right now and 67 tomorrow and calling for high of 30 on Friday. It's crazy. So every year the wife and I plan a trip to get out of here. In three weeks we head to Chile, Argentina and Patagonia till mid April. I'll get home and go get my boat out of storage and be ready to fish. I've tried the Florida thing that so many around here do but just not for us. To busy. So we find breaking up the winter makes it not so bad and gives you something to look forward to.

Have a great trip Lamar. We're leaving next Monday for a week in Phoenix at Carole's cousin's place. They live in Wisconsin on a lake but also own a place down there and do their winters there. Stay safe bud!

You too. We have Canadian friends that own a home on the west coast of Mexico that we always visit in January. I've always said if you can't use family and  friend then what good are they ?  :P

With the 2" of un-needed fluff that fell last night I have a total of about 16" that I've cleared so far. Bright and sunny today so hopefully some melt will get under way.

Tired of snow.

I found a deal on an Iwata Neo at a shop here in town while I was watching the snow fall and slipped over and picked it up yesterday after our walk at the mall. Amazingly I found an airline in all of my random stuff, so without having to buy one of the Iwata lines it was a pretty affordable airbrush. This airbrush will be kept Createx-paint specific. Hopefully it will warm up a bit in the next couple weeks to where I don't need to heat the shop just to spray paint.... been missing the painting.
