Indeed one of my favorite molds too! I've had it for a long time. My only issue is that hook that they recommend, isn't the greatest, so I use other hooks instead. I caught many fish on those old Mustad hooks, but there are much better hooks now available.
I had not thought of using the B10S, but have used some Daiichi hooks, sold either as a plastic bait hook or as a fly hook. Daiichi 2460 or 2461. They have had a couple of similar straight shank, round bend hooks to choose from.
I've also used a hook sold by Gerry's Tackle in CA. He sells on Ebay and has been having hooks produced. He has a nice round bend, straight shank hook, and I'll use them in that mold in sizes 2, 1 & 1/0, which are good sizes for some larger panfish species, such as White Perch, Yellow Perch, or Crappies, and they all will hold some bass.
I first started using these small spinnerbaits in the shallow tidal rivers that I used to fish in MD when I lived there. A friend, who some of you may have known, Craig Defronzo who had owned Micro Munch Tackle in NY & later FL, sent me some he had made in exchange for some hair jigs I had tied. Craig made various small water lures, and although I was already making the spinnerbaits, I got some good information that he had shared with me.
Some years ago now, I got to spend a day fishing with him too in FL. Craig had been a NY city police officer and got hurt on the job. When he got a full disability, he moved down to FL, and I was going to be there, so we hooked up & went fishing. He was one heck of an angler!
A few years ago, he passed away at a quite young age, apparently from an aneurysm that he didn't even know he had. I still have a few of his lures, and have set them aside, I won't use them. Great guy & such a shame to have left this world so young.
Anyway, that is one of my favorite molds.
I think this one was poured using a 1/0 Mustad hook. Mustad had and Ultra Point hook in what they called a Denny Brauer Flipping hook. I don't recall the model number, but I was able to get them in 1/0 and they worked well with that mold to make a nice, compact spinnerbait for shallow water bass fishing.
