Lead Mold Storage?

I currently have all of my lead molds scattered around on a shelf (not really a heap but close).  To find what I want, I have to look at many of them, which is equal parts annoying and a time waste. 

So my question for those with lead molds, how do you store them?  Do you hang them by the wire that is included? Stack them on a shelf? Something else?

Just looking for ideas.

 I just took a 2X4 and mounted it length wise above my work bench. Then took drywall screws every three inches or so and hang the molds off them. Take a sharpie and write what the mold is where it hangs. It's nothing fancy but sure beats digging through a mound of molds.

My shop’s walls are wrapped in slot board. I have a section just for molds. I leave them on the plastic bags the come in and just punch the hanging rod thru the plastic. With 8” rods I can get three molds to a rod. Works well for me.

I have the metal pegboard and hang mine like Crappie Tom. That said before I installed the metal pegboard, I had fiber pegboard. That didn’t work out well and it sagged with the weight of the molds three to a hangar. If you go pegboard get the metal. I bought from here.

I'll add to AP's suggestion. If you use the slot board, buy the metal slot inserts. If you hang something heavier than maybe ten pounds on a rod the clip can pull thru the shot in the board. The metal insert allows you to hang some serious weight on slot board. Some of the slots where I have shelving hung have the inserts. The slots with the lead molds do not have the inserts.

Like the metal pegboard, slot board allows one to quickly and easily change things around to custom fit what you want to hang. It's amazing how little wasted space there is using slot board.

And no, these are not the only lead molds I have. I have several vintage Do-It molds from when they were made in a garage, I believe. I have other molds from other makers that I've collected since the mid 1970's. Maybe 80 molds total i addition to what is in the picture. The ones in the picture I use frequently, the others I don't use any more.

I don't have that many but I have them hanging on regular Peg board.

I’ve been wanting to build a cabinet to store mine. I have successfully put it off for many years now. Unfortunately I just have mine stuffed on a shelf and get to play hide and seek when I want to pour.

Good ideas all around.  Glad to know I am not the only mold searcher.  I like the hide and seeker reference.  I'll have to see what I can come up with.
